UNDERGROUND

A rhizomatous begonia endemic to the Sierra Madre mountains of Luzon in the Philippines. The appeal is immediate: electric lime-green veins strike across deep green leaves like lightning, with reddish undersides, margins, and fine red hairs throughout. New growth is particularly striking — hairy and blood-red before it hardens off. Flowers are pale pink and genuinely beautiful.

More adaptable than its origins suggest. Grows well outside the terrarium in ambient humidity, reaches a decent size, and propagates easily — a single leaf can yield multiple plants.

Known for its distinctive bristly red petioles — unusual in the Philodendron genus — and deeply lobed leaves. The variegated form adds irregular cream-to-pale-yellow sectors across the lobes. A climber that shows best when given a support to ascend.

A papillilaminum hybrid from select breeding — notable for its large, rounded leaf form with the characteristic depth of colour the species is known for. A refined, substantial pap.

A velvet collector hybrid combining magnificum-lineage scale and venation with the dense, dark character of besseae aff. Heart-shaped leaves with a rich dark green to near-black surface and luminous silver-white venation. A compact and rewarding cross for fans of the dark velvet genre.

A hybrid that draws its character from both sides of the cross: the fused-lobe, nearly sinus-free leaf shape of forgetii, red petioles, reddish undersides, and almost certainly red new growth. The forgetii influence gives the leaves a distinctive, rounded quality that sets this apart from the typical cordate velvet hybrid.

A climbing epiphyte native to Guadeloupe in the Lesser Antilles. Anthurium grandifolium produces bold, broadly triangular to heart-shaped leaves, typically found growing high in the canopy in its native habitat. The 'Guadeloupe' designation denotes the geographic provenance of this collection. An unusual, structural Anthurium — not a common one in the hobby.

An unusual Brazilian species from the Atlantic Forest — collected from Tijuca National Park in Rio de Janeiro at around 560m. What sets it apart is the plant itself: thick stem, thick leaves, substantial roots. The foliage is understated compared to many Anthuriums — leathery and clean rather than dramatic — but the root system is genuinely interesting. A botanical collector's plant rather than a velvet-chaser's, and uncommon in the hobby.

The yellow-variegated form of Monstera deliciosa — a rare alternative to the more common white and cream variants. The Aurea's variegation develops gradually: new leaves emerge showing mostly green, with yellow and gold tones building as the leaf matures. Expression varies leaf to leaf.

A collector form of the classic Alocasia × amazonica with an unexpected warmth: the bold white veins and margins carry a soft pink to rose blush that transforms familiar 'Polly' foliage into something special. Arrow-shaped glossy leaves with deep ribbing. Does best in bright indirect light with above-ambient humidity.

A papillilaminum hybrid that's difficult to describe without seeing it — an elegant leaf with a depth of colour that resists easy categorisation. Something refined in the dark velvet family. The name says it.

Arguably the rarest Monstera in cultivation — one that almost never appears for sale. A member of section Marcgraviopsis, it shingles as a juvenile before transitioning to full climbing growth, at which point the leaves develop extreme fenestrations held together only by the most minute of filaments. A genuine rarity, offered here at an accessible price.

A long-standing collector's Philodendron with a historical trade name and murky origins. An irregular cream-and-white variegated climber with elongated, arrow-shaped leaves — no two alike. Some show fine marbling, others bold patches or broader cream sectors. Can push a greener leaf occasionally, but supposedly never fully reverts.

Best grown against a damp pole or moss support, which encourages tighter internodes and larger leaves.

Silver Blush is a crystallinum-derived hybrid selected for extraordinary silver expression: broad washes of pearl-grey that can overtake nearly the entire leaf surface, with dark green showing through in a coarse, painterly effect. New leaves unfurl with a rosy flush before deepening. Crossed with 'Michelle' — a magnificum or crystal select lineage — these seedlings sit small right now but carry promising genetics for generous silver coverage.

Seedling variation expected; each plant will express differently.

One of the smallest Philodendrons in the hobby — a miniature vine with leaves around 1.5 inches. Unusual in a world dominated by large-leaved aroids. Clings tightly to surfaces and also cascades in a compact, bonsai-like manner. Genuinely hard to find.

Prefers warm, humid conditions. Well suited to terrariums or high-humidity growing setups.

A triple cross built entirely from Paul Marcelini's papillilaminum clones. Gator brings a reptilian, almost scaly leaf surface to the cross; Dadbod and Bunny add their own distinct takes on the dark velvet form. Pure pap genetics throughout — each seedling is unique, but all carry that characteristic feel.

One of the rarest Anthuriums you're likely to encounter in cultivation. Native to the Lesser Antilles — Guadeloupe down to St. Lucia — it belongs to a small section of the genus characterised by genuinely divided, pedate leaves: five to eleven long, narrow lobes radiating from a central point, leathery and glossy deep green. A big, architectural plant.

Surprisingly easygoing for something so uncommon. Likes consistent moisture, tolerates higher light and ambient humidity, and handles the occasional dry-out without complaint.

A Venezuelan/Brazilian species with an immediately recognisable two-tone look — deep green on the topside, rich maroon to purple underneath — here in its variegated form: mint-green with cream splashes overlaying the classic atabapoense base. Elongated, lance-shaped leaves on a climbing habit.

One of the most celebrated aroids in existence. Native to Espírito Santo, Brazil, this species is critically endangered in the wild — rare for sure, however many specimens remain. What sets it apart is the leaf: long, narrow, and pendant.

Narrow select' designates a seedling chosen for a particularly slender leaf ratio. A prestige plant.

An unidentified species collected from the Morona-Santiago region of Ecuador — one of the true unknowns still circulating in the aroid hobby. The leaves are leathery rather than velvet, elongated and heart-shaped, developing a substantial, almost hide-like quality at maturity. Very easy to grow in a humid environment, and does fine in ambient conditions too.

Well-established rooted cutting grown from an already rooted node. The cutting has developed a strong root system that now reaches the top of the pot. Some cuttings are already pushing a new growth point, while others are focusing on further root development before activating their next leaf.

Named after botanist Carla Black, who first documented this species on the Panama–Colombia border. Among the most striking of the dark velvet Anthuriums: foliage approaching near-black, threaded with dramatic white veins in a spider-web pattern. RA10 and Wuhoo are named clones selected for specific trait expression. Growth can be compact, though mature specimens are capable of pushing impressively large leaves.

Each seedling carries variation — no two are identical.

Almost black, until the light catches it.

Marcgravia sp. ‘El Coca’ has a blue-green sheen across its dark leaves, red undersides, and new growth that comes in red before darkening as it matures.

You might know Marcgravia for their small leaves growing flat against a tree or terrarium wall. This is the mature form, with much larger leaves hanging from branches that grow out sideways. ‘El Coca’ can develop these branches while still quite small. Ours have even done it without anything to climb.

Both parent clones come from the stable of breeder Paul Marcelini — 'Marshellini' is a nod to his name. This cross produces seedlings with a smooth, slender leaf profile and characteristic upswept lobes — a distinctly individual look within the papillilaminum world. Leaner and more elongated than the typical rounded pap form.

Pure papillilaminum genetics throughout. Each seedling is unique.
